Mid South Autism Conference 2014
In June, Kris and I had the pleasure of speaking at the Midsouth Autism conference held at the University of Memphis….. Although it is out of state, it is a central location for many. We have become friends with a variety of other families through our attendance at this conference over the years; Families from Mississippi, Tennessee, and Arkansas. So its always an exciting time for us as parents.
This year one of the keynote speakers was Kerry Magro. He is a self advocate who is on the spectrum which we had befriended several yours ago…. The second of speakers was Ms. Temple Grandin. Although I have heard her before; this was a much more intimate setting which was phenomenal. She was able to meet attendees, sign autographs, and even answer questions….
This was the first time I had the opportunity to speak with her personally. And although she is a success story in the realm of autism and agriculture, you could definitely tell she had autism…. It was impossible to carry on a conversation with her…. And she made very little eye contact…
Kris and I both had the opportunity to speak. Doing what we love- sharing our passion and calling in life- there is nothing greater…..
