Thanksgiving Sensory Play

We had so much fun with sensory play this week. We made apple pie oobleck! It’s really easy and so much fun. It only takes three simple ingedients:

  • applesauce
  • cornstarch
  • cinnamon (optional, we added for the additional element of scent)

You want to mix roughly one-half cup applesauce with one cup corn starch. Sprinkle the cinnamon on top and mix with a spoon or your hands. We doubled the batch so we would have lots to play in. It was great–we played all afternoon!

We added some little fall decorations from the dollar store. We also made “apple pie” in a pie pan and used a plastic spatula to spread it out and a butter knife to slice the pie. The next day it had dried out some so we used cookie cutters and made applesauce cookies. I love how sensory activities encourage imaginative play, help to meet sensory needs, and work on fine motor skills. This was an easy activity that was enjoyed immensely!
